Umaraw at Umulan . . .

Sunny and Rainy
Translation by Bogart

The sun's heat is harsh in the morning. So is the heavy downpour in the afternoon. It's as if the air and the heat is fighting. Now I do not know if I like this. Because I love taking a nap when it rains in the afternoon. But who can sleep with the noise of the thunder?

Iyan ang dala ng init at lamig. Mistulang nahilong ewan.
That's what the heat and the cold can bring. Like some dizzy something. You do not know if the weather got broken. Maybe it is broken. The weather does not know anymore if it should be sunny or not. I also do not know if it is daytime or nighttime.

Luchie got back from her vacation in Palawan and I took a peek at what she brought home which I can possibly eat:

Danggit? Dried Fish?
Pass.

Kasuy? Cashew Nut? Pass.

Ube balls, bead chokers, rainstick . .
Ube balls, bead chokers, rainstick . . . hmmmm, I don't think I will enjoy any of things Luchie brought home! I don't have anything that I can eat there. She gave me hopia which is my favorite. Ok, that will do. Anyway, Luchie enjoyed her vacation.

. . pati sa kapitbahay! Sus, mamumulubi ka talaga niyan!
It is a fad for Pilipinos to bring home something (pasalubong) every time they travel. They make sure to buy something for everybody . . .including for their neighbors! Geez, you will really go broke with that!

Lui does not care about pasalubongs. Most of her travels are related to her work. Every time she travels to do research or whatever, she rarely buy things to bring home to people. She would rather spend her money dining because she wanted to taste the food in the places that she would visit.

But that is not always so. She would always buy something for me and my pups. That is why when she is not around, like now, my pups Sweepy and Bogart would look around for her.

When I hear the approaching rain, I immediately call my pups. I am sure that when it rains during a hot day, thunderbolts and lightning might follow which will be frightening for us!
